“That’s the premise of Instacart shopper referral codes. They are different than promotional codes or referral codes that give you money off your order or offer free delivery.”

By using driver referral codes, both you and your referral can receive compensation for completing a certain number of deliveries (they refer to them as batches) over a short time period like a month

I’ve used Instacart twice and both times my groceries showed up almost a half hour before the beginning of the time range that I chose. I just don’t understand why they ask for a 1-hour time range if they never plan to show up within that range.

Elizabeth, something you probably didn’t know was/is, as a pro shopper we don’t see a “delivery time frame”. We see something like “This order is due by….” There’s nothing on our side to encourage us to throttle back. They don’t pay us a LOT, so we have to get VOLUME and that means clearing the order ASAP to be able to get another order on-screen to accept.

Generally, you will get SOME KIND of communication from your shopper in the App through the messenger. I always talk to my customers. Use the app to tell the shopper you would not like your groceries til a certain time. Here’s the problem. We have to swipe to confirm delivery BEFORE getting a new order. So if you don’t want for four hours or something that is going to be a problem.

Especially if you have only a couple/few items. Cause the shoppers are going to be done I a few min and ready to deliver. So if you have a small order do not time frame ahead. Wait and order it til you can be there to receive it. ESPECIALLY if you have temp sensitive items like milk or frozen.

If it’s a full order, 40+ items with produce you are looking at a 1-2 hour shop time and then delivery. Plan it like that.

Here is another caveat though. Instacart doesn’t pay well often. So I look at how many items I have to pick and the miles I have to drive to deliver and if it is roughly equal to $1 per item picked, I grab it. If it is equal to $.30 per item I’m going to pass up on that order unless there is just ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE to be had. Because then I’m working for free pretty much.

Just some perspective from a provider standpoint.

Thats right and some customer dont communicate if the items arent available and they give you a goal time to complete the order.Plus if there is only 2 open register and the store is so busy. One time my husband deliver an order and the customer gave him a dog food for a tip and and all expired halloween candies. With these Covid -19 no one can eat food from other people for safety.

I agree with Adam. We don’t see times and once we grab a order, we the shoppers want to complete it ASAP so we can grab the next batch/order.

So I disagree with the Gentleman that said he zeros out the tip until the order is completed and service complete. I have always respected folks who work in the service industry. I just used this service for the first time yesterday. This is how I decided to tip. After completing my order and tipping the app default 5% I put another 5% in an envelope. My service was superb so I handed the extra tip to the delivery lady. My order was 75.00. Once you place the order you are expecting someone to drive shop, check out, and deliver. So I believe that you should at least tip the minimum at the start. I think for me, next order I will increase that tip to10% before and then give more upon delivery and great service.

However, I found this code to be working for me and my two other friends when we started as instacart shopper for the first time. You can try this one when you open an account or begin your application.

All of us were in different states, so we had different promotional offers but we all received a guarantee to earn atleast around $400-$700 if you complete first 30 batches within 30 days, which seems pretty cool to us to get $600 dollar for 30 batches ($20+/batch, that even without tips); must be amazing. It varies from cities to cities and depends on the cities/states you will be working too.
