Grubhub Availability

Grubhub is the nation’s leading online and mobile food ordering and delivery marketplace dedicated to connecting hungry diners with local takeout restaurants. The company’s online and mobile ordering platforms allow diners to order from more than 125,000 takeout restaurants in over 2,400 U.S. cities and London. Uber Eats Availability

Presently, Uber Eats operates in 500 cities around the globe, including some locations where Uber’s primary ride-hailing service has yet to launch. Over the last year, Uber Eats has been a relative bright spot for the troubled ride-hail company. To see if Uber Eats is in your city, type in your address here.

Bottom line: Grubhub is leading but Uber Eats is quickly gaining market share. If you do not live in a major city then you should check to see if either food delivery service is available to you.

Delivery varies by city. In many markets, proof of residency is required. The main difference between Uber Eats and Grubhub driver requirements is that Uber Eats allows drivers that only have one year of driving experience, compared to two years that Grubhub requires.

Pay Calculation

Grubhub and Uber Eats pays drivers for each delivery they complete. Overall, the faster you deliver food, the better. In most cases, you’ll receive cash in your debit card account right away, but it could take a few business days, depending on your bank.

Grubhub Payment Calculation

Recently the Grubhub payment calculation was updated as the previous rate they offered did not accurately reflect the time spent fulfilling an order.

Now, the total order earnings will be determined based on time and mileage, in addition to the full tip from the diner

You keep 100% of your tips and your per-order earnings will continue to be determined independently and separately from the tips you receive.

A good thing is that they remain committed to transparency and will still show the total amount you’ll earn before you accept any order.

Grubhub does not offer incentives and bonuses like Uber Eats.

Uber Eats Payment Calculation

Uber Eats payment for drivers is similar to Grubhub. Delivery fares may be calculated based on the following:

Want to get paid to play games on your phone?

  1. Mistplay (Android) - If you have an android device, you can download this app and start getting cash rewards for playing new games.
  2. Solitaire Cube (iOS) - Earning money by playing games on your phone sounds like a dream. But this app really pays you for playing solitaire with cash rewards.
  3. Lucktastic (Android) - This free app offers the same daily scratch-off cards that you find at your local convenience store — but here you can play for free and win real money.

Flat Fee Pickup: A flat pickup fee for each pick up at a restaurant (a multiplier may apply if there are multiple pickups at more than one restaurant)

Flat Dropoff Fee: A flat dropoff fee for each drop off location

Per Mile Rate (Not in all cities): Calculated as the per-mile fare multiplied by the distance between pickup locations and dropoff points. This calculation may be based on the most efficient route and not on actual miles traveled

Per Minute Rate (Not in all cities): Calculated based on the time spent starting from the arrival at the first restaurant to final dropoff. This calculation may be based on the estimated time, not on actual time spent.

Percent Reduction on Fares (Not in all cities): The percent reduction on fares vary depending on the delivery city and mode of delivery (car, bike, or scooter).

One thing that Uber Eats offers is a ton of incentives to drive during peak hours. This is called Surge Pricing and can help you make money during busier times. Another good feature that they offer is Boost Earnings, allowing you to earn bonuses for delivering in busier locations.

  1. I’m currently working for Uber eats. I also signed up to work for Grubhub. This article was interesting and I do agree with some points. Uber eats does offer a lot of incentives, for example right now every 10 deliveries are complete you got an extra $50 up to $250. GrubHub does not offer those incentives nor does it offer delivering during peak time in certain areas more money.
